Imfundo Enhle Education Trust is driven by the concept of “ubuntu”, this concept translates to “I AM BECAUSE WE ARE”. It is our vision to see all students being given an opportunity to study further. This initiative carries on with the mandate of the #FeesMustFall2016 campaign – providing solutions and equal opportunities for all students. Our mandate is to ensure that no student is left behind.

Imfundo Enhle Education Trust will partner up with other organizations in rural communities to maximize our recruitment strategy. It is our dream to reach out to previously disadvantaged communities in order to provide our services. It is our goal to visit rural and township high schools and offer grade 12 students bursaries. Also, assist students to apply in various universities.

Our History

This Trust was birthed by an initiative called “Adopt A Student During A Pandemic”. This initiative was founded in April 2020 by Lucy Pearl Khofi, with the assistance of postgraduate students from various universities. The aim of this initiative was to adopt students during the pandemic and support them during difficult times. The team provided various support structures, such as ensuring that students received sufficient support through mentorship, weekly follow ups, data provision, and acquiring laptops for some of the students who were in need.

In addition, the team assists students with bursary applications from various organizations and food parcels.

Goal by 2025

The goal is to fund 20 000 students across South African universities for the academic year 2022. Help us reach our target by clicking the button below.

Mental health awareness is an important aspect when supporting students, therefore the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) played a huge role in assisting our students who were part of this initiative. This initiative received momentum and recognition in a few places, such as Mail & Guardian 200 YSA, and Wits Covid-19 Hero’s & Wits Shakers and Movers. After these recognitions, more partners and sponsors came on board. Imfundo Enhle Education Trust was then registered to be able to help more students across South Africa. When this initiative started in 2020, we provided support to 350 students, and now we are currently supporting 2091 students.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
